April Chapter Meeting

Join us for the April Chapter Meeting for the Dick Pope Polk County Chapter of FPRA at Lakeland Yacht Club on Lake Hollingsworth.

Our speaker is Mark Jackson, director of Central Floridas Tourism & Sport Marketing. Mark will present Legoland, Florida: Behind the Deal.

Mark Jackson is the Director of Polk County Tourism and Sports Marketing (PCTSM), an initiative of the Central Florida Development Council and Board of County Commissioners, an award winning program that promotes tourism, sports and economic development in Polk County. He brings more than 29 years of marketing, sales management and tourism experience to his position. During his time with PCTSM, his most notable accomplishments include: developing the Lake Myrtle Sports Business Cluster; merging the CVB and Sports Marketing initiatives; creating Floridas most honored sports commission; and developing the organizations first visitors center Polk Outpost 27. He has also recruited several sports governing bodies to Polk County including: the Florida Youth Soccer Association, Florida Sports Hall of Fame, Cleveland Indians, Independent Softball Association and the Futures Golf Tour headquarters. Prior to his tenure with the CFDC he served as Director of Marketing for a United States Olympic Committee national governing body, USA Water Ski. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Florida Sports Hall of Fame; Southeast Tourism Society; Florida Association of CVBs; and is the President of the Florida Grapefruit League Association (Major League Baseball Spring Training). Mark graduated with a B.S. from the University of Wisconsin and received his MBA from Florida Southern. He has also served as an adjunct in economics at Polk State College. In addition, Mr. Jackson was a professional athlete in two sports and also skied for Cypress Gardens. He has also worked as a color commentator since 1988 and has been featured on broadcasts airing on ESPN, ESPN2, Outdoor Life Network, Sun Sports Network, Water Channel, Versus and Bright House Sports Network.
